Scripture (5 Minutes)

2 Timothy 3:16–17 (NLT)

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

Hebrews 4:12 (NLT)

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

Discussion (5-10 Minutes)

You can lead through a teaching or use the following questions to start a discussion:
  • According to these verses, what makes the Bible different from other books?
  • How has God's Word helped you know what's right or wrong?
  • When you read the Bible, how does it sometimes feel like it's "reading you"?
  • Why do you think God chose to use human writers instead of writing the Bible Himself?
  • Can you share a time when a Bible verse really spoke to your heart?

Closing Prayer (3 Minutes)

Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us your perfect Word through human writers. Help us to trust that every word in the Bible comes from you and is completely true. Give us hunger to read your Word daily and wisdom to obey what it teaches. In Jesus' name, Amen.
